1. Sign in

Enter your email. We send an 8-digit code and a magic link — tap either.

2. Add a friend or trip

Tap the + button. Add expenses by hand or snap a photo of the receipt.

3. Settle up

One tap opens Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle to send the exact amount.

Common questions

I'm not getting my magic-link email.

Check your spam folder first — emails come from hello@fairtabs.com. If you still don't see it after a minute, tap "Resend link" or use the 8-digit code that arrives with the email. If the link opens in the wrong browser, the code option is the easiest fallback.

Receipt scanning didn't fill in the right amount.

Receipt OCR is good but not perfect — especially on faded thermal paper or hand-written tabs. Tap any field to edit it manually. If you're consistently getting bad results on a particular kind of receipt, send us the photo (with anything sensitive redacted) at hello@fairtabs.com and we'll improve the model.

Friend says they don't see the expense I added.

Make sure they're listed in the splits for that expense — only people in the splits can see it. If they should be there, tap the expense, hit Edit, and add them. The change syncs to their device immediately.

Settling up — does Fairtabs send the money?

No. Fairtabs deep-links you to Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle with the amount and recipient pre-filled. The payment happens entirely inside that wallet app. We never see, touch, or move your money.

What's "Plus" and what does it cost?

Plus is an optional paid subscription planned for an upcoming release — $1.99/month or $17.99/year — that will remove the 100 expenses/month cap and unlock unlimited receipt scans. Plus is not available yet, and the current version of the app does not charge for anything. If you tap "Notify me when Plus launches," we'll email you the moment it's ready. No charges, no card info collected.

How do I delete my account?

iOS: Settings → Delete account. Web: Account menu → Delete account. You'll be asked to type DELETE to confirm. Deletion is permanent and removes your profile, expenses, splits, settlements, comments, receipt photos, and Plus-interest records within 30 days.

How do I export my data?

Web: Account menu → Export CSV. iOS export is on the way; in the meantime, sign in to app.fairtabs.com on a desktop browser and export there. EU/UK/California residents have a right to a portable copy under GDPR/UK GDPR/CCPA — email privacy@fairtabs.com if you'd like us to handle it for you.

I think I found a bug. Where do I report it?

Email hello@fairtabs.com with: what you tapped, what you expected, what you saw instead, plus a screenshot if it's a visual issue. iOS users — including the iOS version (Settings → About) makes our lives much easier. We read every report.

How do I add my Venmo / PayPal / Zelle?

iOS: Settings → Wallets. Add the handle for whichever services you use — when friends settle up with you, the link will open the right app with the amount pre-filled. We only store what you type in; we don't connect to your bank or wallet account.

Can I use Fairtabs without my friends downloading it?

Yes. You can log expenses against anyone — they don't need to install the app. When it's time to settle, you share a settle-up link via Venmo, PayPal, or Zelle. Of course it's smoother for everyone if your group does install it.

Full details: Privacy Policy. Quick summary: we collect only what we need to make the product work, we don't sell data, and we don't run cross-app tracking. Receipt OCR uses Anthropic's Claude API for the single inference; images are not used to train any model.
