Plain-English terms for using Fairtabs. We've kept it short — read it once, you'll know where you stand.

Fairtabs ("Fairtabs," "we," "us," "our") provides a bill-splitting application available at fairtabs.com, app.fairtabs.com, and as a native iOS app (collectively, the "Service"). By creating an account, signing in, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Use (the "Terms").

Fairtabs is free to use, with a limit of 100 expenses per month and 5 receipt scans per month. Fairtabs Plus is an auto-renewing subscription that removes those caps and unlocks unlimited expenses, unlimited receipt scanning, and all wallet rails (PayPal, Venmo, Zelle).
Monthly: $1.99 per month. Yearly: $17.99 per year.
Same price on web and iOS, in USD. Local-currency conversion (if applicable) is handled by the payment processor at checkout.

You keep ownership of everything you put into Fairtabs — group names, expense descriptions, receipt photos, comments, wallet handles, all of it. By uploading content, you give us a limited license to store it and display it back to you and the other members of your groups, only as needed to operate the Service.
We don't sell your data. We don't run third-party ad-network tracking. The full picture is in our Privacy Policy.
Settling up uses deep-links to PayPal, Venmo, or Zelle. We never see, hold, or move your money. The actual payment happens entirely inside the wallet app you choose. We're not responsible for what those services do, charge, or fail to do.
If you scan a receipt, we send the image to a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) to extract merchant + total. The image is processed transiently and not used to train any model. The image you upload is also stored in our database tied to that expense, and is deleted when you delete the expense.
We're a small team shipping fast. Features may change, be added, or be removed. If we materially reduce a feature you paid for during an active subscription period, we'll either restore it or pro-rate a refund.
Fairtabs is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We make no guarantee that calculations, splits, balances, settlements, exchange rates, OCR-extracted amounts, or any other numeric output of the Service is correct or fit for any particular purpose.
Fairtabs is a record-keeping tool, not an accountant, not a bank, and not a payments processor. We compute split shares and balances based on the data you (and your group members) enter; we do not verify, audit, or move money. Receipt OCR, wallet handoff links, recurring expense templates, and any cross-currency conversion are convenience features and may produce inaccurate results.
Before sending or accepting money based on a Fairtabs balance, verify the underlying expenses + splits + settlements yourself. The user-facing balance is a best-effort estimate, not a financial statement. If you discover a discrepancy, edit the affected expense in the app; the balance will recompute.
You acknowledge that bugs in our software, network failures, third-party service outages (Supabase, Anthropic, Lemon Squeezy, Apple StoreKit, Twilio, Brevo, payment-rail providers), or stale cached state on your device may at any time cause a balance shown on screen to differ from the "true" balance computed against the latest data. You assume the risk of relying on any Fairtabs balance to settle money with another person.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will Fairtabs, its founders, employees, contractors, or affiliated parties be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including without limitation: lost profits, lost data, business interruption, reputational harm, or losses arising from money transferred between you and another user based on a Fairtabs balance.
Without limiting the above, you specifically acknowledge that Fairtabs is not liable for any over-payment, under-payment, double-payment, or non-payment of any amount arising from your reliance on a balance, split, or recommendation shown in the Service. Payment-rail handoff links (PayPal, Venmo, Zelle) are deep-links to third-party services; Fairtabs is not a party to and has no visibility into the underlying transaction.
Our total aggregate liability for any claim, regardless of legal theory, is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) $50 USD. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law.
Nothing in this section attempts to exclude any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (for example, liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or fraudulent misrepresentation).
You can stop using Fairtabs anytime by deleting your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. On termination, paid subscriptions remain valid through the end of the current billing period unless we terminated for serious abuse.
We may update these Terms when the product changes materially. We'll post the updated Terms here and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Continued use after changes means you accept them.
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of India, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Subject to applicable law, any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the competent courts in India.
Nothing in this section limits any non-waivable rights you may have as a consumer under the laws of your country of residence.
